The small church in the middle of the wide Kapellenplatz (Chapel Square) surrounded by Baroque buildings was built in 700 and was probably an early Christian baptistery. Inside it  harbors the silver urns containing the hearts of the Bavarian electors and kings as well as valuable votive offerings.

The peak of the Predigtstuhl can be easily reached by cable car, incidentally. In the old salt town many cultural offerings provide top-class entertainment: The frequent performances of  the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra belong to the highlights of the events calendar .
Ramsau

The world-famous Church of Saint Sebastian, a popular postcard motif, is situated in the Ramsau.
The center of today's Ramsau is located where salt was once transported  from Berchtesgaden to the province of Salzburg and where timber was floated on the Ramsauer Ache to the Trifftplatz .
Some of the many hiking destinations which can be reached from here are the Klausbachtal, the Hintersee and Taubensee, the Wimbachklamm, the Soleleitungsweg and the Zauberwald (Enchanted Forest).
The Enchanted Forest, which seemed to be bewitched, was recognized by the Bavarian Environmental Ministry as a geotope worthy of protection.
