Waging am See is situated in the idyllic foothills of the Berchtesgaden and Salzburg Alps.
In the village a lovingly crafted Bavarian Museum, a Bird Museum and the private Baroque Museum at the spa on the beach summon you to a revealing, fleeting visit.

You can get to know the charming market town and its surroundings best by taking a leisurely stroll: From the Tennis Spa Garden  by the lake you walk past the Kneipp facility up to the Mühlberg . You will be rewarded for your climb with an excellent view of picturesque Waging  and scenic Rupertiwinkel.

But even in the city there is much to be discovered. Waging is the home of the famous and popular Bavaria blu, one of several specialty cheeses from the private Bergader dairy, whose shop in the center of town lures with a tasting. Around Waging you can hike, go horseback riding and cycling to your heart's content. In summer, the lake offers the warmest water temperatures of Upper Bavaria; in winter, it often freezes into an ice paradise.

Waging is centrally located. The Austrian city of Salzburg with its famous arts festival is a half hour's drive away. So are the state spa of Bad Reichenhall, the beautiful county seat of Traunstein, and Burghausen, with its annual jazz festival in the spring.
